When we first took over Broadfields Grounds, the facility was an extremely neglected and unused site that had been left dormant for over 20 years. What once had the potential to be a vibrant community sports hub had become unsafe, overgrown, and occupied by individuals in vulnerable circumstances.
Initial Clean-Up and Site Restoration
Since taking responsibility for the grounds, we have undertaken an extensive and challenging clean-up operation, which included:
Once we gained access to the pavilion, it was evident that it had suffered significant structural and environmental damage after decades of neglect. Ceilings were collapsing, the roof was leaking, and evidence of long-term squatting made conditions hazardous.
We have since carried out extensive refurbishment works, including:
Repairing the leaking roof and removing all damaged guttering and downpipes.
Knocking through internal walls to improve accessibility and safety.
Installing new ceilings in both the main hub area and the changing rooms.
Installing a brand-new flooring system to replace unsafe, unstable flooring with large holes.
Installing a new electrical box and completely rewiring the pavilion to meet modern safety standards.
Re-routing essential water pipes for improved plumbing and functionality.
While our team initially attempted to restore the original playing fields through treatment and regular mowing, it quickly became clear that the surface was not fit for purpose. The ground contained severe rivets and uneven areas, posing a major safety risk for players.
As a result, we have:
Our state-of-the-art facility has been designed to provide the very best environment for football development and community engagement.
